    1. 3.5 starsLove in the time of Hurricanes is only my second book from C.C. Bridges (the other one is a short Advent story) and I like her writing style. I came to this one after DNF-ing four books in a row, so I was a bit frustrated. This felt like a savior – especially with Nick, the main narrator, who I found quite adorable with his crush.Nick takes a year off from Rutgers University, rents his friend’s house at Seaside, and joins some classes at Shore Community College. One late night, when [...]

    2. Looking for something different after taking a rest for a semester to another college in another city, and met a pizza guy and finding love. Who would have guess? This is love at first sight, I didn't mind because this one is a novella, and Lou is just the right guy for Nick. It was fast, sweet, and low angst just what I need when read this one on my weekend getaway.Based on Hurricane Sandy story, I think the author tried to let us see what was happening with people who lives there and the strugg [...]

    3. Nick and Lou meet while Nick is looking desperately for something to eat one night. Lou takes one look at Nick and invites him in to his family's Pizzeria on the Jersey Shore, where Nick is staying for the winter, while attending college, to share his dinner. This was an enjoyable read that was sweet, passionate and sexy. It's well-written and paced well, with relatively low angst. The main characters were likable as were the secondary characters. Nick and Lou had a great chemistry and it transl [...]

    4. A hurricane is not something I have experienced personally, but reading about it in such vivid terms and remembering the horrifying pictures and reports from late 2017 certainly made me respect anyone who is brave enough to live in their path. But while Hurricane Sandy is part of this story, there is also plenty of turbulence in each of the main characters’ lives as well as in their relationship. Between trying to define what they want to do with their lives, dealing with overly critical and d [...]

    5. 2 HeartsI’ll keep this short and simple. This book didn’t work for me. I loved the idea of it, of moving to a new place, meeting a townie and being forced to take shelter together riding out a storm, to falling in love and yet, I felt nothing. Nick was a decent narrator but I felt as if I was being told the entire story and never allowed to feel it. I didn’t feel the crush Nick had on Lou nor the rush of emotions that came from either man on their first date. It all should have given me gr [...]

    6. I was really looking forward to this book based on the location of this “States of Love” series, and frankly, it disappointed but maybe for the wrong reasons. This story starts out with Nick driving into town and pulling into a closed pizza shop to try and find some food in his newly adopted hometown. Of course, the person behind the counter is super hot and sexy Lou – who flirts a little with Nick and eventually they try to make things work. But things felt… off, throughout the entire st [...]

    7. Sometimes it takes meeting the right person to give you the courage to stand up for yourself and what you want out of life. Nick decided to take a year off from RU where he was going to school at and escape to Seaside and stay while attending a community college there. His father was not happy about it but accepted it at least for the time being. Nick has found himself struggling because he does not want to follow in his fathers footsteps and become an accountant but at the same time he does not [...]

    8. justlovereviews/2017/03/03.5 starsWith the disaster that was Hurricane Sandy as it’s backdrop, Love in the Time of Hurricanes, is a pleasant timewaster about family obligations and delicious Italian cooking.Nick Henderson is in the town Seaside Heights, NJ while on a break from reluctantly pursuing a degree in accounting at Rutgers University. Staying at the home of his best friend’s parents, he’s enrolled in community college and trying to figure out what he really wants to do with his li [...]

    9. *Copy provided to Bayou Book Junkie by Dreamspinner Press for my reading pleasure in hopes of an unbiased opinion, a review was not a requirement.*Nick is renting a house on the Jersey Shore to get away from his domineering father and taking classes at the community college. Nick's father has pressured him to major in accounting and Nick has no interest in the path his father has laid out for him. He's using his time away to decide what he wants for his future. After a night of studying, Nick is [...]

    10. A Joyfully Jay review. 4.25 starsI liked this New Adult romance. Nick is a decent guy in some difficult situations. He’s unhappy with his college major–heavily influenced by his demanding father’s advice. He likes Lou a lot, but their easy camaraderie is dissipating under the weight of family pressures, school pressures, and sudden co-habitation. Nick is sure Lou wants him to leave, but is too polite to ask. The story seemed very realistic, and the added destruction of Hurricane Sandy gave [...]
