    1. Widowed ER nurse, Taylor Cabot is determined to move on after three years. She is slowing checking things off of her survival list. She moved to San Diego in the hopes of starting back over without the painful memories that still haunt her. She's even considering the possibility of dating again, and is in a relationship, of a sort, with a plastic surgeon. When crisis chaplain, Seth Donovan, steps back into her life, Taylor is forced to confront the unanswered questions surrounding her husband's [...]

    2. This is Candace Calvert's 2nd book in her new 'Crisis Team' series. She already has 2 other series under her belt. I love medical suspense and she does it very well indeed. Candace is a former ER nurse and knows her business. I love the reality of the medical aspect of her books. The author blurb on her books says 'her medical dramas offer readers a chance to 'scrub in' on the exciting world of emergency medicine.' This is so true. I love this aspect of her books. In this book, ER nurse Taylor C [...]

    3. For me, I could hardly put this story down. The emotions Taylor experienced were so spot-on to having lost a close loved one unexpectedly, and to facing the loss of a beloved dog to cancer. I'd been rooting for Taylor and Seth in book one, and I'd have been upset not to see those early sparks come to fruition. Here they are in their new town, having to face what the future looks like without their first spouses. Seth is a bit further down the process of grief than Taylor is, and now her heart is [...]

    4. Taylor Cabot is nearing the finish line of her self imposed three year recovery plan, systematically taking steps to begin anew after the devastating loss of her husband. Arriving at the scene of an horrific local accident, her emergency room nursing skills and crisis counseling training push Taylor straight into the path of Seth Donavan; a mentor and friend, who happens upon the same tragedy. His temporary stay in San Diego places Seth in the unique position to renew his relationship with Taylo [...]

    5. Step by Step is book two in the Crisis Team series and can be read as a stand alone, however, the two main characters in this story appear quite a bit in book one and it really enhances the enjoyment of Step by Step to know them a little more from book one, By Your Side. After reading the first book in the series, I have been eagerly anticipating Step by Step and can definitely say that it exceeded my expectations. The fact that Taylor and Seth have both lost their spouses years earlier sets thes [...]

    6. This is the fourth book of Ms. Calvert's that I've read, having really enjoyed the others I jumped at the chance to review this one. I never would have to expected to love a story that centers around grief and loss, but this one was written in such a beautiful, inspiring and hope giving way that I can honestly say that I loved it! I ended up reading By Your Side (Book one in the Crisis Team series) and this one back to back, and while I really enjoyed By Your Side, I loved Step by Step! I loved [...]

    7. About the BookThree years after a tragic accident left her a widow, ER nurse Taylor Cabot is determined to move on, checking off one item after another on her survival list. Her relationship with a handsome plastic surgeon even gives her hope for the last point—“fall in love again.” At least until crisis chaplain Seth Donovan steps back into her life, reawakening unanswered questions about her husband’s death. While in San Diego to train community volunteers, Seth hopes to learn why Taylo [...]

    8. 'Step by Step' is the first book I have read by Candace Calvert. It follows the story of Taylor who is an ER nurse, nearing the end of a list of survival steps she put in place for herself following the death of her husband 3 years prior. Seth, who is the California Crisis Team Director, who knew Taylor from her years in Sacramento on the Crisis team, is in town to help with training of new volunteers. Their paths intersect and their friendship develops. I found this story very slow moving and a [...]

    9. I've been a fan of this author for a while now, but I've had a really hard time getting into this new series, and this installment is no exception to that.To me, Taylor spent the entire book being repressed by her new love interest, and hung up on the questions surrounding her husband's death. When she finally acknowledges that she might be interested in Seth and he in her, she can't believe in it, and clings to her fledgling relationship to the plastic surgeon, even though he is clearly manipul [...]

    10. If you love Candace Calvert like I do-- this book will not disappoint. Taylor Cabot has developed a check list to push herself to move on with her life after the untimely death of her husband. But, there is a secret that her husband kept from her, and dealing with that and its repercussions is throwing Taylor off kilter. Then reentering her world is Seth Donovan-- a lead crisis chaplain and love interest to throw further disarray into the plans she has for herself.Dealing with the issue of grief [...]

    11. Step by Step is my favorite Candace Calvert book to date and it’s going on my best of 2016 list! There isn’t anything I didn’t love about this book. With a solid plot line and strong characters—main and secondary—my emotions were fully invested in this story. I was only a quarter of the way in and I knew I didn’t want it to end. I took my time, savoring every morsel. Thank you, Candace, for gifting me a copy of this fabulous book!

    12. This book– Wow! I was not expecting to be so thoroughly taken with this story. If you have contemporary romances pegged as ‘light fiction’ (a label that is not wholly unwarranted) you will want to make an exception for this book. It is well-written, authentic, and provided a breadth and depth of emotional experience that is rare in this genre. If you have read the first book in Candace Calvert’s Crisis Team series, you will already be familiar with both Seth and Taylor and know a little o [...]

    13. I loved By Your Side, book one in the Crisis Team Series, so I was really looking forward to this second book, Step By Step. I had high expectations and wasn't disappointed by the great mix of medical suspense, action and romance. Taylor Cabot is recovering from the death of her husband. After three years of grief and pain, she is ready to slowly work her way through her survival checklist for a new start at life. But a beautiful day at the beach turns to tragedy when a light airplane crashes in [...]

    14. *My Thoughts*I discovered Candace Calvert's Medical Christian dramas when I first joined the Tyndale Rewards program. It was titled 'Life Support' and when I was done, I was surprised because I am generally squeamish with medical novels and I didn't know what to expect.I decided to add her to my list of authors to look for when reviewing books. When I realized the first book in her "Crisis Team" series involved a character I had read of in her earlier book, I was down. Obviously, I loved it beca [...]

    15. It has been awhile since I read a book by Candace Calvert and after reading “Step by Step” I have to wonder why. I really like the author’s down-to-earth portrayal of medical personnel who actually have real lives outside of the hospital. I also like the way she gives her readers an up-close-and-personal look at what goes on behind the scenes. In this case, I learned quite a bit about the people on crisis teams who are available to support family members in the midst of or after traumatic [...]

    16. Candace Calvert is a former ER nurse and her expertise gives her a great leg up in writing medical suspense. It's not all medical jargon and beeping machines though, her characters really have a depth to them that is unusual. She also manages to make her multiple books feel very different from each other and not formulaic.Taylor Cabot lost her husband nearly three years ago and is still working through her grief. She is trying to move forward, and move on, but it's a work in progress. She has de [...]

    17. I remember feeling somewhat unsatisfied at the end of book one, By Your Side. I felt like the story line with Taylor And Seth felt unfinished. I was thrilled to see the focus of book two was on Taylor and Seth.Seth and Taylor were easy to relate with and love. They both had heart aches in their past and they were trying to move on.There was a chemistry between them from the beginning. My heart broke for Taylor as she approached the third anniversary of her husband's death as his beloved dog was [...]

    18. Author Candace Calvert's contemporary medical romances are given great insights by her own experiences as an ER Nurse. "Step by Step" is Book 2 in her "Crisis Team Series". In Book 1, "By Your Side", readers were introduced to Taylor Cabot and Seth Donovan, and now they are given their own story. Several years after the accidental death of her husband, ER Nurse Taylor Cabot is striving to resume a full and meaningful life, seeking resolutions to unanswered questions, and checking off items on he [...]

    19. "Step by Step" is a Christian romantic suspense novel. It's the second book in a series, but it has different main characters and functions as a stand-alone novel.Seth's father died recently, and he struggled between continuing as a crisis chaplain or running his father's stores as his father expected. Taylor dealt with unanswered questions about her husband's death. She desired peace and hoped that taking control of every detail of her life would help her move past her grief. The story started w [...]

    20. In Step by Step by Candace Calvert we finally get Taylor and Seth’s story and you will not be disappointed. If you read By Your Side which was book one in the Crisis Team series you met Taylor and Seth briefly.Taylor’s husband died three years ago. There is a little mystery surrounding the night her husband died. She has moved and created a list of things to accomplish to get her life back together. I was chuckling over her activity bracelet and tracking of everything she ate. In today’s w [...]

    21. Taylor Cabot an ER nurse, has recently lost her husband in a tragic accident. She feels guilt because they argued the night of the accident. As the third anniversary of his death is coming up, she decides that it is time to move on, to live again and perhaps let a man back into her life. Has she truly let go? Has she been through all the steps of grieving? Seth Donovan is a crisis chaplain and was friends with Taylor at one time. He worries that she is not moving on and wants to help her out. Th [...]

    22. Step by Step is the second installation in Candace Calvert's Crisis Team trilogy. In a Q&A, Calvert said this about the series: "The Crisis Team series, set in my native California, offers exciting medical scenarios within the fictional Hope medical system, and features the selfless and compassionate work of volunteer community chaplains—true heroes."Taylor Cabot, a nurse and widow, has one thing on her mind as the three year anniversary of her husband's death approaches--survival. She has [...]

    23. So, let me just date myself right up front. I was a fan of the television show ER when it aired, faithfully watching until the very last episode (and while that other doctor show with the McDreamy and McSteamy may be similar, I never have actually watched an episode of that one). Candace Calvert writes in a similar way to the scenes in ER. You have the characters at work, at home, and interacting with each other. In fact, a former nurse, Calvert does such a good job at this, she’s quickly beco [...]

    24. Step by Step is book two in the Crisis Team series. I was intriqued to read this book because I am a Chaplain and have had to respond in Crisis situations. I think the author did a wonderful job of weaving a fictional story into the subject. As a former ER nurse Calvert has 'real life' experience that is woven into her story lines.I loved visiting Ms. Calverts webiste and learning about her as an author. I found this quote . . . "Solid characters, real life and sweet romance." author Varina Denm [...]

    25. Taylor Cabot (an ER nurse) is determined to move on with her life, three years after the death of her husband in a traffic accident, by using a personal Survival List which included changes and goals for herself. Besides the typical self-help goals, she determined to quit her volunteer work with a local emergency crises team.I was excited to review another Candace Calvert book and knew that there would be much more to her book than just romance. This story included how to deal with grief and rel [...]

    26. Stepping through life at your own (and God’s) paceAfter the death of her husband, Taylor Cabot moves to San Diego as one of the steps on her Survival List. She wants her list completed by the third anniversary of Greg’s accident which is looming on the horizon. She has decided to step away from the Crisis Team work she was involved with in Sacramento and has been cutting back on those hours. Seth Donovan knows Taylor is an excellent fit with the Crisis Team but wonders why Taylor has been le [...]

    27. Title: Step by Step (Crisis Team)Author: Candace CalvertPages: 400Year: 2016Publisher: TyndaleMy rating is 5 stars.Whew! What an exciting, suspenseful and heart-tugging ride as I read the story from start to finish. I enjoyed Candace Calvert’s latest book plus I am excited to know another one will be coming out later in the fall of 2016! Readers follow Taylor’s journey through her grief, her work as an ER nurse along with learning about God being in control. In the book is a reflection of how [...]

    28. Candace Calvert’s book Step By Step gave me an emotional rollercoaster. I just lost my father this past Halloween, and I still can’t imagine moving out without him. He was my biggest fan and supporter, so when Calvert allowed Taylor Cabot to grieve and show how she was moving on after the death of her husband Greg, I totally understood what she was going through. Even though the story is three years after her husband’s death while my father just passed three and a half months ago. Calvert [...]

    29. Candace Calvert in her new book, “Step by Step” Book Two in the Crisis Team series published by Tyndale House Publishers brings us into the lives of Taylor Cabot and Seth Donovan. From the Back Cover: Three years after a tragic accident left her a widow, ER nurse Taylor Cabot is determined to move on, checking off one item after another on her survival list. Her relationship with a handsome plastic surgeon even gives her hope for the last point―“fall in love again.” At least until crisi [...]

    30. I love Candace Calvert's books and couldn't wait to get my hands on this one! Step by Step was exactly what I've come to expect from Calvert's books. Wonderfully exciting medical drama with a good dose of romantic tension and an outside villain to keep things interesting. Her characters are always quite complex but I felt like this book had even more complexity than usual. Taylor's life is full of tension from work, crisis team, relationships, and grief. Then Seth shows up and complicates things [...]
