    1. the first 60-70% of the book is written about the numerous political parties and politicians in Spain in the past. I found it very difficult to follow and was not interesting because of this. the later part of the book was mildly interesting as it spoke of the contemporary challenges Spain faces economically as being part of the Euro and their complaints against the political bureaucracy and crony capitalism. However I found this writing to be boring and the claims were not quite as substantiate [...]

    2. Dry. Dense. Awkwardly written and full of obscure references to marxist thinkers and local Spanish politicians. Bizarrely this books repeatedly mentions Slavoj Žižek, Game of Thrones, and The Wire. The author's heart is the in the right place, but he doesn't really have enough of substance to say, and the book doesn't have a coherent message. There are more informative, funnier, and simply better written books out there on any topic. The one saving grace of this one is that it's only 150 or so p [...]

    3. Quite interesting and useful book giving a broad political history of Spain in the 20th century, along with some analysis of the rise of Podemos and ideas for the further development of the European left. To be read critically, but provides plenty of food for thought.

    4. The leader of one of Europe's most successful grassroots anti-austerity movements submits his manifesto and it's not at all bad. This relatively short book, whilst written for a domestic audience, has enough history to enlighten the ignorant without boring them and even manages to avoid swimming too indulgently in the sea of acronyms which constitute the European left. His account proceeds at the type of clip that means that confusing your PSOE with your PCE or your CNT with your CEDA doesn't mat [...]

    5. Yes, a deeper analysis of Podemos should be engaged in, but this book is a good primer on what the formation of Podemos was & how it happened. It's a good read and has a nice conclusion, "We want a society that is equal to providing the material bases for dignity & happiness. These modest objectives, that seem so radical today, are what democracy is all about."I'd suggest this book to folks engaged in grassroots policy work.
