    1. This was a very easy to read, gentle mystery story, featuring an interesting new female PI and her aunt, who just happens to be a ghost! Lana sets out in her new career as a PI to discover who murdered her aunt. Along the way there is time for some romance and a proper mystery involving an assortment of characters who Lana brings together in order to get to the truth. I liked the ghost characters and especially the interaction between Lana and her aunt. While my intellectual brain says ghosts do [...]

    2. I don’t usually read paranormal romance, but I saw some talk about this book on Facebook and . Given that it was set in Charleston (one of my favorite cities), I decided to give it a read.Synopsis (from the author): Will Lana Malloy solve the twenty-year-old double murder of her great aunt and her great aunt’s fiancé by Memorial Day? If she can, they’ll spend eternity together; if she can’t, they’ll be stuck as Haunted Hearts for another year. What I liked: This book is a lighthearted [...]

    3. Lana Malloy has a gift, she can see spirits, When her grandmother's ghost asks Lana to solve her murder, Lana is a bit reluctant but once she starts on the case, there is no way she will stop. This is a fun read, even though it is also a paranormal mystery. The author has done a good job of adding humor into Lana's life as she tries to figure out her gift and all that it involves. This is book one and I have a feeling all the others will be just as interesting.

    4. “ But I need cash. Who would be paying for my services?” Lana smiled, pulling her reading glasses off and laying them on the desk. She loved her great-aunt, but she could be a card. Lucy had always been a rebel, always trying to be different from everyone else. “Besides, you died over twenty years ago. That’s a cold trail for sure”Kim Cox's "Haunted Hearts - #1: A Lana Malloy Paranormal Mystery" begins with Lana Malloy trying to get her PI business off the ground. Her deceased aunt Luc [...]

    5. Private Investigator Lana Malloy lives with her Great Aunt Lucy’s spirit which has been wandering around the old South Carolina beach house waiting for her murder to be solved. The approaching Memorial Day holiday will mark the 20th anniversary of Lucy’s death. Lana must solve the mystery by this date or Aunt Lucy’s troubled spirit will remain in limbo another year.Aunt Lucy’s fiancé, Davide Calabria, was also murdered on the same day and Lana must recruit his grandson, Tony Calabria, t [...]

    6. 4 "Spirited" starsHaunted Hearts by Kim CoxRave Reviews Book Club August Book of the MonthI don’t usually pickup a ghost story, but this one was worth a read.Haunted Hearts is an unusual (not scary!) cute, charming, well-written, light-hearted story.Lana Malloy lives in her great-aunt Lucy’s house. Over the last five years she’s become aware of her mischievous Aunt Lucy’s presence – she can see her and hear her, which makes for some fun with her nosy neighbor. Aunt Lucy, however, has b [...]

    7. I don't know if this is a mashup of genres or if Kim Cox invented a new one, but I like it. HAUNTED HEARTS is a cozy mystery sweet paranormal romance--and it's a page-turner. Take a new PI, imbue her with psychic abilities, and give her a dead relative/ghost for company, and you've got the makings of a compelling story. Have the said dead relative ask her psychic niece to solve her murder, and you've got a fascinating premise. Throw in the tall, dark, and handsome family member of the dead relat [...]

    8. Lana Malloy sets out to investigate an unsolved double murder. A twenty-year-old case involving the double murder of an old aunt and her aunt's fiancé within hours of each other. This is a murder mystery that has a paranormal twist as the ghosts of the two victims help Lana investigate. Lana has unique abilities that allow her to communicate with the victims. The unanswered questions are, why were they killed and by whom.I liked the ghost characters, they were well integrated in the story and t [...]

    9. This is an unusual ghost story in that it never sets out to be scary. Lana knows her mischievous Aunt Lucy well and is used to having her around, and chatting to her, though only she can see and hear her, which is hilariously unnerving for Lana’s nosy neighbour. Lucy, however, has been dead for twenty years and can’t “move on” until her murderer is identified. Until Lana rather belatedly tells her, Lucy has no idea that her fiancé, whom she believes murdered her, died only hours after h [...]

    10. This is a breezy read that combines paranormal elements with a bit of detective fiction and a twist of romance. Lana Malloy can see ghosts. In particular, her Aunt Lucy has been hanging around pushing her to solve her murder. Aunt Lucy and her fiancé, Davide, both died on the same date under questionable circumstances. It isn’t long before Lana, and Davide’s grandson, Tony, are involved in trying to find the culprit or culprits (because every good mystery has to have a guilty party). As the [...]

    11. This is the first of Kim Cox's books I have read and although it's only short (described as a novella) it's a lot of fun. This light hearted read follows a new Private Investigator Lana Malloy on her first case - to find the killer of her great aunt and her fiancé . Unlike most murder investigations Lana has the added help of in the shape of the victim! Lana's ability to talk to the dead is something she is very comfortable with and her great aunt is a fun and lively character - especially consi [...]

    12. This was indeed a haunted story. From the very beginning, the spirit of the one, and later of the other, directed the investigations surrounding their deaths until the end. I have always believed that when a person dies, that person’s spirit becomes free and begins to see and know what ordinary mortals cannot see or know. This story tended to disagree with my belief. Here the spirits had to rely on the mortals to crack the case surrounding their deaths. Lana became the investigator extraordinai [...]

    13. Lana's great aunt, Lucy, was murdered twenty years ago and know one knows who did itt even the victim! Unlike most murder victims, Lucy has stuck around and now she's asking Lana to solve her murder. But that will mean combing through the past and unearthing secrets that some will go to any lengths to keep buried. With ghosts, nosy neighbors, and a bit of a comedy of errors flavor, this story is a cute combination between a cozy mystery and a paranormal adventure. I picked this book up on impulse [...]

    14. If you're looking for a light, quick read, this paranormal story about Lana solving her aunt Lucy's twenty-year-old murder will do the trick. Of course, Lucy gets in on the investigation and blames her intended, who accuses her of killing him as well. There's not much of an investigation that you'd find in many detective-type stories, but Lana has other plans to make the murderer confess. The story is humorous and quick paced, with a couple romances brewing. My favorite part was the beginning, w [...]

    15. As this was my my first venture into the paranormal genre, I found the story to be quite entertaining. Solving a ghostly "cold" case, the main character, Lana, investigates the murder of her aunt and uncle 20 years ago in her first job as an independent PI. Having a special gift, Lana is able to communicate directly with the ghost of her Aunt Lucy, one of the murdered victims. The interaction between them was, at times, quite amusing. The plot keeps you guessing as to "who dunnit", and the endin [...]

    16. A fun and funny paranormal mystery with some romance thrown in!I’d never read a paranormal mystery (or paranormal anything!) before so I didn’t know what to expect when I sat down with Kim Cox’s “Haunted Hearts,” the first in the Lana Malloy series. While Lana and Tony are the main characters—and they are wonderfully drawn, especially Lana’s internal conflicts— it is Lucy, the ghost, who steals the show. The way the author describes Lucy and her antics made me feel like I was in [...]

    17. I absolutely loved this book. I was sucked right in from the get go, as I really enjoy paranormal stories. The main character is strong and lovable, and the supporting ones are as well. This book includes a little mystery, detective work, and some fun ghosts. The entire story line is filled with witty dialogue, and oh, an old and a new love:} Did I say I loved it yet? Well, I did. I will be reading the rest of this authors books soon!Haunted HeartsKim Cox

    18. ‘Haunted Hearts’ by Kim Cox is an easy, enjoyable paranormal (not scary) mystery that I completed in one seating. The main character, Lana Malloy, sets out to solve the 20-year-old murder mystery of her Aunt Lucy and her Aunt’s fiancé. What gives this mystery its added twist is that Lana has the ability to speak and see her dead Aunt Lucy, who helps solve her own murder. The dialogue is fun, witty, and engaging. The characters are well developed. This is a story that has it all: mystery, [...]

    19. If you're looking for an enjoyable beach read this first episode of the Lana Malloy series is a perfect fit. It has a likeable heroine, a little romance, enough suspense to keep you wondering what will happen next and an entertaining paranormal touch. I'm not a fan of scary or gory horror stories and find vampires pretty boring. This story is a clean read suitable for young adults which provides an enjoyable escape from a stressful world. If you're looking for a light read you can finish in a la [...]

    20. Haunted Hearts introduces us to Lana Malloy, a PI who can communicate with ghosts. In this book, she is trying to solve the murder of her aunt, Lucy Malloy. The characters are described well, the action moves at a steady pace, and the writing flows so smoothly that I kept turning pages until the end. I thought it was a great story, and I will be checking out the other books in the series. Great job, Mrs. Cox.

    21. I really enjoyed this paranormal short story. The characters were fun and easy to like. I loved the interactions between Lana and Tony, and Lucy was just hilarious. I really hope she reappears later in the series. I love plot twists, and the motives for all of the suspects were brilliant! I don't usually read short stories, but this one made me enjoy the characters enough to want to read the rest of the series.

    22. This was an interesting paranormal mystery/romance. My favorite character was Lucy the ghost. The first part of the book was as visual as watching a sitcom because of Lucy's antics. I wanted to finish the book to find out if Lucy was able to go on to the spirit world, but I did not "feel" the urgency through the prose. I was hoping there would be more suspense and tension in this solving of a 20-year-old murder mystery. 3.5 stars rounded up to 4.

    23. This was actually the first novella I've ever read, but I found it really entertaining. So much so that I finished it in just two evenings. Lana's character was easy to butter up to, and Tony, even easier! Lucy was a feisty sidekick. Overall, it was cute, kept me guessing, and I like that Lana has future installments. She seems smart, confident, and beautiful. I like how she creates suspense and commands respect from the men around her.

    24. No I Didn't You Did!This is a mystery of two people killed on the same day hours apart. Each one thinking that the other one killed him and her. Who killed them and why. This is what Lana has to figure out with the help of the good looking grandson of the other murder victim. This is a standalone book but it tells you how Lana and Tony met. Enjoy I did.

    25. Easy, fun read with a good mystery. The action was good and it kept me guessing until the end. Lana and Tony were a good pair. I enjoyed the ghosts as well, it might be kind of fun to be haunted by a ghost like Lucy. Overall and fun read for anyone.

    26. I was given this book in exchange for an honest reviewA 20 year old unsolved murder, a woman with special abilities and two ghosts who just want to move on make for a wonderful read. A mystery unravels while love blooms and keeps you interested until the end

    27. I loved this fun, light who-done-it! It is a quick read, and the characters (especially the dearly departed ones) were enjoyable. I will read more of Kim Cox!

    28. This book by Author, Kim Cox is a great introduction to female detective, Lana Malloy. But, Lana isn't just an ordinary detective. She has paranormal gifts and abilities. She can see and communicate with the deceased. This book centers around her Aunt Lucy Malloy, who has been dead for over twenty years. The mystery surrounding her death was never solved. So, when Aunt Lucy begs Lana to find her murderer, how could she refuse? And, when handsome Tony Calabria, grandson of Aunt Lucy's deceased lo [...]

    29. I have to give the author serious props for the unique premise of this story. A private investigator who caters to ghosts is a truly an inspiring way to approach the solving of cold cases. I found this story to be an easy read, interesting from the first page to the last.In this first case, Lana, a clairvoyant, sets out to solve the twenty-year-old murder of her aunt and her aunt's fiancee. With the help of the spirits, she sets out to chase down the truth, and finds the first blush of love alon [...]

    30. Haunted Hearts is a fun romance/mystery with a paranormal flair. Cox always creates very sympathetic characters, and I especially enjoyed the roles played by the ghosts. I found myself more interested in the paranormal and mystery elements of the plot than I was in the romance, but that’s probably an issue of personal taste. This is a concise and entertaining read and perfect for this time of year, with Halloween fast approaching. I'm looking forward to seeing how Lana Malloy develops over the [...]
