    1. Most low reviews I read expressed disappointment, let down expecting a similarity with other near-future teen-lit (Hunger Games, Divergent). I ignored those reviews. Having not read these other books and seeking a fast paced mindless weekend read I felt confident disappointment would not be my fate. I pen this rare review to save the next unsuspecting reader. This author has lazing writing habits. Something that can be forgiven if the plot is fast paced and well developed. It was not. Lazy writi [...]

    2. I loved all 4 books. I couldn't wait to get the kids down for nap or bed and have that "me time" spent reading these books! Very well written; easy to read and, refreshingly, no curse words (although they had their own they'd made up).

    3. I can't help but notice the many parallels the series has with The Hunger Games. Thomas reads like a male Katniss Everdeen:1. Protagonist is a teenager who has lost a parent2. Story is set in a dystopic world and even mentions a location that both series share3. Protagonist is thrown into many life and death situations along with people his age4. Protagonist has both witnessed and committed acts which would scar any person for life5. Protagonist becomes a symbol of rebellion and fights against a [...]

    4. This book passed it predecessor by far!The second book in the maze runner series meet my expectation and over! The book takes place right where the last book took place which I loved. This book set the gladers up with an amazing trial full of dangers, secrets, suspense and betrayal. What I loved about thee book is that there was so much more action in this book then in the last one and that's something that I really liked. Also the plot I feel was much better then the first book because the writ [...]

    5. Rating: 4 starsThis series is amazing! The first 2 books are just perfect. But I'm giving this series a 4 stars rating, be ause I didn't really like The Death Cure and The Kill Order. I don't know why exactly, but those took me a while to finish it, it didn't really have an impact for me. I don't know how to say it differently, it just didn't.

    6. It took me most of book #1 for me to decide if I even liked this book series. It's not terrible but I've definitely read better stuff. I like to complete a series no matter what because I always like to know where the author takes the story. This particular author seemed to have trouble with the direction things were going, I spent most of book #3 wondering how there was even going to be an ending. And then of course once I got there I wasn't impressed. It wasn't a terrible ending but it wasn't [...]

    7. I have many contradictory opinions about this series but these are the highlights without giving any of the plot away.- The 1st book in the series is a bit slow. The author tries to make it mysterious but really he just drags things out too much. I am happy to report that I just watched the movie and they fixed a lot of the problems the 1st book had like the slow pace and the author’s tendency to make things overly complex. - I also was never fully satisfied for the reasoning behind the Maze. [...]

    8. Yet another trilogy in the style of The Hunger Games and Divergent. It has been advertised as such and I would agree. The complete series also includes a prequel which I think worked well in explaining the origins of the world the Maze Runner is set in. The story is stranger (for lack of a better word) and the premise not as strong as The Hunger Games and Divergent but the trilogy as a whole is much stronger, and does not taper out in the later books as the other trilogies did. It was a much mor [...]

    9. Why do I like The Maze Runner so much???My favorite thing about this series is one word TERESA. I love her! She was there in every book but I don't know It should've been her not Brenda I hate Brenda (Does that seem childish?) Anyway, the story was more interesting this way. It's one of the Best series I've EVER READ!!!!There's also something interesting about this series that if you either start reading the maze runner, the kill order or even the fever code (then one after one by order) you'll [...]

    10. Disclaimer I'm 35I understand this is for junior high kids, but I thought it was weak. I wish my phone had no service when I was at Costco and scanned the box set into my app. 4.3 rating with comparisons to Hunger Games, I was sold. I can deal with high, unfair expectations, but this just didn't do much for me. It dragged on. It's almost as if the author wanted to prolong each book to make a series. "What does this mean? I can't tell you now. Why not? I just can't, you'll figure it out later". [...]

    11. I really enjoyed this series. When I first started reading the Maze Runner, to be honest, I wasn't really into it and I thought the way it was written was maybe a bit strange, however as I read the next books, each turn of the page it improved. In the end I was loving this series, and I thought the ending was PERFECT! I don't want to spoil anything, but I think that it was really realistic and a nice way to finish such a surprising and adventure packed series. I would recommend this gripping ser [...]

    12. Ugh. I was more generous with my stars for the individual books, but the series as a whole is getting panned, panned, panned! I really wish I had back the two weeks I spent reading this. Details in the individual reviews linked below:The Maze Runner The Scorch Trials The Death Cure The Kill Order

    13. This book was amazing. Once u finish the maze runner you will be begging your mom to get you the next book in the series. This book was rich in good themes and ideas. Not only that but rich in good characters and the author did a good job in making the setting. *spoilers* chuck dies and so does Alby

    14. The Maze Runner series is amazing and full of emotions. I really enjoyed every part of it. I'm thanking James Dashner for this amazing story and loveable characters. Newt will be always in my heart <3

    15. A no-fuss, ripping, unpretentious young adult dystopian yarn. Less sophisticated than the Hunger Games, it still delivers, and Dashner is very good at combining suspense, angst and adventure.

    16. Maze Runner Thomas will soon wake up with no memory, no thoughts and no ideas. Who knows what was waiting for him, after all he was in a metal box surrounded by darkness. When the boys pulled him up he felt strangely at homewhat did this mean? The day right after a girl arrived in the dank, dark box. But a new boy comes every two weeks. Why would a girl come the day right after a new boy had arrived? Realizing there had to be a way out of the maze he sets off looking for the hidden exit. He disc [...]

    17. When I finished this series, I had one thought: finally. (As in, yay, I'm finally done.) I literally do not understand at all why this series is so popular. For one thing, it is so badly and lazily written. The writing is filled with clichés. Oh, and speaking of the word "filled" that is one of Dashner's favorite words in the entire world. I cannot tell you the amount of times something "filled the air" or "filled Thomas's mind." And "filled" is not the only word that is FAR overused in this b [...]

    18. This book was interesting, but it felt like you were inside a Michael Bay movie, to much action explosions and dead of inconsequential characters, and yes consequential characters also die, this is a collections of 4 books and the last one is the best one, the most coherent in itself, but darker, and sadder in a collection of books already dark and sad.The problem with the books is that the history at least in the first three makes no sense you ask the same thing through all the history, Why? an [...]

    19. BLURB (TMR): When the doors of the lift crank open, the only thing Thomas can remember is his first name. But he’s not alone. He’s surrounded by boys who welcome him to the Glade, an encampment at the centre of a bizarre and terrible maze. Like Thomas, the Gladers don’t know why or how they came to be there, or what’s happened to the world outside. All they know is that every morning when the walls slide back, they will risk everything to find out.WHAT I THOUGHT: I use to hate reading un [...]

    20. I started reading these books after watching the maze runner movie. The books add a lot more intrigue and complex themes over its cinematic cousin. The pace and over all tone of the first book, 'the maze runner" was good over all but I fell like the pace sometimes outstripped the story. I was really really pleased with the second book 'the scorch trials' and I feel like it is my favorite of the 4. The story really begins to gain depth as Thomas' dreams start to flesh out his back story and as ne [...]

    21. I just finished listening to the 3 book Maze Runner series. Though the ratings are high for the book, I did not really enjoy the story. The book was definitely gripping, action packed and left you wanting to turn the pages, but I found the descriptions a little too grotesque and violent for my taste. I think a lot of the books success can be attributed to this 'shock' element. I also felt like the main character could be rather annoying at times, more towards the end of the second book and defin [...]

    22. Too much wasn't answered and resolved. I didn't give a flying hoot about any of the characters throughout this entire series, they were all so flat and lacking of emotion and how a real person would react to tragedy. My heart wasn't moved by any deaths, and i'm an easy one to cry and get connected to my beloved characters. It was so messy of a story and unorganized that there was just no room to feel for anybody. I'd recommend skipping this series, or just reading the first book and leaving it a [...]

    23. The first book was excellent. The second was good. The third was mediocre. The fourth was again excellent. I'm wondering how the movie series will play out given that all of the script-worthy material has been exhausted. I can't imagine where the movies could go after the first film. The scripts must needs be an immense departure from the books from this point. The only strategy that makes sense to me would be a jump to the fourth book while filling in small details from the second and third.

    25. I read this series in one week. The writing is not strong, nor is the storyline, however it is adventurous, gripping, and hard to put down! This book would not be featured in the classroom but could be used in book clubs or for side reading for students who are like the hunger games or the divergent series.

    26. I liked books 1 and 2. I hated the ending of the trilogy. I could list what I think are a number of blatant errors. It's like the author spent time creating the story but just couldn't figure out a fitting ending so he gave up.

    27. I could not put the book down, i had to finish the next chapter and the next chapter. The series is so good and it makes you think they never told them the complete truth. Its a must read, add it to your list.

    28. Enjoyed these books. Death cure wasn't as good for me. But the first three gripped me and had me wanting to read more. The character's were likeable. Just had to get used to some of the terminology.
